Yesterday, Albert Pujols hit is first home run (after the longest drought in his superstar career) as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.
I thought I saw him hit is first home run a few weeks ago when I was in Anaheim.
But this swing that looked so promising …
… ended up with the ball being caught by Josh Reddick just before the warning track.
I tried another photomerge with about eight photos I took on Monday night at the Angels-A’s game. This looks much better if you are on a big screen, maximize your browser, and then click on it.
Chris Capuano struck out 7 in just 5 innings for the Dodgers on Thursday evening, including Josh Harrison looking in the 1st inning. Wally Bell, the umpire behind home plate, gets pretty animated when the batter opts not to swing at the third strike.
At 11mm on my DX (crop sensor) Nikon D7000 today’s top image of Dodger Stadium is pretty wide. But I wanted to see what I could do with photomerge in Photoshop CS5 so I merged/stitched five images from the same vantage point together with the following result.
Not only do I like the result much more, but photomerge did a couple of really cool things. First, with each of the five images, the picture on Diamond Vision in left field changed. I thought photomerge would blend them all together into a mess. Instead, it took just the first one for a clean Diamond Vision scene. Second, players on the field and people in the stands were moving between the five photos. Somehow photomerge detected this and didn’t put multiple versions of the same person into the final scene. Very cool, photomerge. I think I love you. I guess I can ditch my ultra-wide angle lens and just photomerge my future photos together!
I’m down in Los Angeles for a few days and went to my first game at Dodger Stadium last night. I had a nice seat 12 rows behind home plate where I took today’s photo of Juan Uribe singling in the 1st inning. This was the last time the Dodgers scored, and they held on to win 3-2.
Today kicks of the season for Major League Baseball. The A’s and Mariners are playing a short series in Japan before the rest of the teams begin early next week. I’m planning on watching games this summer in five stadiums I’ve never been to before so it should be a great year.
