Ramen Parlor
Tonkotsu White Bowl @ Ramen Parlor (San Mateo, California)
About six months ago I enjoyed a fantastic bowl of ramen at Ramen Parlor when I was in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today I went there again and came away a bit disappointed. I asked for mild spice and the bowl was very spicey. If I ever go there again I’ll go with no spice. The spice is on the table so you can add as little as you want rather than risk someone in the back putting way too much on.
California Coast (from the air)
My random, desktop image of the day is this one. This coastline is somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This was one of those frustrating, backtracking flights. I started out in Medford, flew south to L.A., and then flew from L.A. to Tokyo. The Los Angeles to Narita leg covered much of the same ground, in reverse, from my first flight. I flew over San Francisco in my first flight and my second (shortly after this photo was taken).
If you click on the photo you can see the coast up close. Anyone know, specifically, where this little stretch of houses between the road and ocean is?

Jack London Square sunset

After a fabulous dinner of BBQ at Everett & Jones Barbeque, we headed over to the waterfront at Jack London Square to enjoy the sunset. I’m not sure if this is the Lady Washington (or maybe the Hawaiian Chieftain?), but some tall ship was forming the perfect foreground for the night’s sunset last Thursday.
