Great game yesterday during the first half. The #11 Cougars ran away with things in the second.

Oregon vs Stanford

A two-day volleyball tournament gets underway today in Eugene featuring some of the best teams in the country. Matches will take place at the Matthew Knight Arena and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network. Besides the University of Oregon, the other teams are coming from the University of Florida, University of Nebraska, and University of Texas. Nebraska is ranked #1, and Texas is #2 in the country.

After a rough start to their 2015 season (losing 3 of their first 6 games), the Ducks finished strong with 6 straight wins, including victories over Arizona State, USC, and Stanford. A win against TCU in the Alamo Bowl could actually see them crack the Top 10 for the first time since week 2.

My Duck comes home for winter break today. We will be in Mexico in less than a week.

Yob’s Mike Scheidt

@EarsplitPR

Yob’s most recent release (2014’s Clearing the Path to Ascend) was named best metal album of the year by Rolling Stone. To be perfectly honest, it is probably the best album of this decade by anyone, period. They played three songs off of it a couple weeks ago in Eugene. That may not sound like much, but the three songs clocked in at over 45 minutes total (and Yob played “Ball of Molten Lead”–another 10+ minute tune–off The Illusion Of Motion as well). I was amazed. The sound was so good. Everything was so tight and perfect. The only “problem” with their set was I used up nearly all of the endorphins my body is capable of producing, leaving myself in a bit of a listless state for Agalloch’s set to follow.

The first time I saw Yob live was in 2009 at Ashland’s Stillwater (now Club 66). I’m hoping they return to play Club 66 to a full house one day soon.
