I’m not sure how much of this photo is an optical illusion caused by my angle, but (considering the ladies around Carly are all about 6′ tall) doesn’t it look like Carly Wopat can leap about three or four feet into the air straight up?

A little different perspective compared to yesterday’s photo, although both photos were taken from the same seat in the Knight Arena. Alaina is the star of the University of Oregon Women’s Volleyball Team. She is also the current Miss Oregon, having won the title in late 2011.

Posters of Alaina Bergsma were being given out at Sunday’s game.

Today’s photo was from yesterday’s Standford-University of Oregon women’s volleyball match in Eugene. Stanford won in three straight sets and will retain their #1 ranking. The Ducks, with their loss to California on Friday night as well, will likely fall in the standings from their #2 perch.

I have watched a lot of volleyball over the past several years–some of it college and some at lower levels. Today I’m heading up to Eugene, Oregon to catch the highest level of college volleyball. #1 Stanford is taking on #2 University of Oregon so this should be a great match. It has been 20 years since I’ve watched volleyball of this caliber live.

Today’s photo is from a Southern Oregon University volleyball game a little over a week ago.
