According to Flickr “favorites” these were my top five photos of 2017 from Southern Oregon.

Last week was a wild week of weather in Ashland. It felt like summer early in the week, followed by one of the best rainbow/thunder/lightning storms I’ve ever encountered, and then Friday night it snowed in the mountains. We headed up to Hobart Bluff yesterday. We had to forge our own trail as no one else ventured out to Hobart on Saturday. With the wind-chill factor it was about 10-15 degrees when I took this photo. Only five more weeks until summer!

I enjoyed a lovely morning up on Buck Prairie yesterday. Snow had fallen overnight, the sun had come out, and the surface in the sunny areas seemed like it was covered in tiny diamonds. I was the first in snowshoes for the day. I was about the fourth car there. When I left, before noon, the parking lot off Dead Indian Memorial Road was packed.
Today’s photo is my random, desktop image of the day. This is from a few years ago. We had an excellent sunrise a few mornings ago, but I was too lazy to go out on my roof to photograph it. The sunrise earlier this week looked similar to this one.
