Brian McDermott (posthumously)
Brian McDermott was a former head coach at Dakota State who took them to their first ever NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Final Four in 1992. He collected 117 victories during his 10-year tenure at DSU before accumulating hundreds of wins at SOU. I happened to be there this past weekend when he was recognized at half time during the SOU-DSU football game.
Below is the video that was played at the induction ceremony the day before the game. I wasn’t there; we were an hour away in Sioux Falls, but this is a most excellent five minutes for your viewing pleasure.

Calysta Cheyenne of Fortune’s Folly @ Ashland’s Brickroom (January 2020)
This was one of the last shows I saw before Covid hit in early 2020. Fortune’s Folly played their final show about a year ago in Eugene. Calysta is still performing. Her next gig in Ashland will be at Martino’s on Monday, December 1.
