Sarah Mues of FatherDoug
Today’s pics are from last Friday night. Tonight at Club 66 the audience, including me, will be treated to some traveling metal. Come on out to hear Facinorous. They are supposed to start at 8 p.m., and I hope they do as I have to wake up early tomorrow morning.

FatherDoug @ Club 66 4/5/13
I wasn’t able to stick around for Twice Born Gypsies after FatherDoug on Friday night as the show started late, and I couldn’t stay past about 11:30. Hopefully they will play Club 66 again soon, and next time it would be nice if they begin before the next day does.

Most of my photomerges are in the three-to-five photo range. Sometimes they are just two photos. However, I like to try new things. So at last Saturday’s SOU softball game I set my D600 to “Ch” for continuous high speed shooting. The sky was overcast so I went with 1/4000, f/8, ISO-2000. If it was sunnier I would have went with something like 1/4000, f/11, ISO-800. Next time if it is overcast I think I will try something more along the lines of 1/1000, f/10, ISO-1600.
Anyway, I then focused on the batter at 70mm from behind first base. When she connected I immediately began firing as I turned my camera toward right field. Twenty eight photos (and about four seconds) later I was done shooting. The photomerged result can be seen above. After the photomerge my file size was almost 3 GB for what had become a single photo! I resized it and did a bit of editing to get it down to about the 1 MB image I uploaded. Click on the photo for the more detailed 1 MB version and to have it fill your screen.

Lucy Walker discusses The Crash Reel with the Historic Ashland Armory audience
#AIFF13 Rogue Award Winner Lucy Walker is my favorite movie maker. I have only seen The Crash Reel and The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, but now I must see everything else she has done.

AIFF – Ashland Independent Film Festival
The last couple days have been pretty crazy photo wise. I probably have about 1,000 keepers from about ten different events (including not only the AIFF events but also Nic Temple’s piano recital, SOU softball doubleheader, some wild weather panoramas, and Father Doug at Club 66). Now I just need to sort through them all…

I had a delicious lunch at Club 66 yesterday featuring this ham and pepperoncini sandwich.
Tuesday night (4/9/13), metal will once again be featured at Club 66. Facinorous, a deliciously evil metal band from California, will be hitting the Club 66 stage.

Brandi Carlile @ Britt
Britt announced their 2013 lineup last night. Included in the mix is Brandi Carlile (just after I return from my summer in Asia). The date is August 21, 2013. I will almost certainly be there. Tickets go on sale for members next week and for the general public in May.
Other shows I may go to Britt for this summer include Chris Isaak, Tegan & Sara, The Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Jake Shimabukuro.
