This Saturday’s NAIA playoff game will begin at 4 p.m.
Although it’s too early to know exactly what the weather will be, the current forecast is for a 90% chance of rain and lows in the 30s. My one pair of thermals weren’t enough by the end of last Saturday’s 3 p.m. game. I’m going to have to double down this Saturday.

Raiders to play College of the Ozarks

The Southern Oregon University volleyball team will play in Ashland this Saturday at noon against the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. The Bobcats did not finish the season in the Top 25. Nor were they among the ten teams that fell outside the Top 25 that received votes. They did win their conference and take the MCAC Tournament. They have a losing record on the road.

Friday was the last day of this year to catch this scene. The leaves were falling fast and furiously (as you can see if you look really closely at today’s photo; those are leaves in the air, not birds), and the weekend was a windy one.

MidAmerica Nazarene coming to Ashland

#9 MidAmerica Nazarene University from Kansas will be traveling to Southern Oregon next weekend (11/22/14) for the first round of the NAIA football playoffs. A quick look at their schedule shows they have only played one decent team en route to their 9-1 record. They beat Missouri Valley at home by 3 points. They lost to a sub-.500 team (Central Methodist) on the road last month.
The Raiders will need to rebound from this past weekend, but they should be heavy favorites going into this important game.
SOU volleyball to host first round playoff game

The opponent is not yet known, but the Raiders will likely be home Saturday night (11/22/14) to try to win their way to Sioux City, Iowa for the NAIA volleyball championships. Like the football team, the ladies are hoping to reverse their results from the prior weekend. Hopefully both teams will be smiling by the end of Saturday.

Although the results of yesterday’s game didn’t go according to plan, the Raiders did end up (barely) in the top eight in the final rankings which should give them a home game in the first round of the NAIA playoffs.
