Night View from my residence (5F) in Gwangju, South Korea
I haven’t noticed this in any other country I have visited, but in Korea, when the sun goes down and the lights come on, you can’t find a view that doesn’t include at least one lit up cross. Sometimes you can see several. Usually they are red, but sometimes they are white or blue.

I spent last weekend in Busan on the southeast coast of South Korea. The sun never came out, and the sky was never blue during the day. However, the “blue hour” still happens even with an overcast sky.
I didn’t have a tripod and there was nothing really easy to set my camera on for a long exposure so I climbed a lifeguard tower and set my camera on the floor of the lifeguard station in order to take the photos that were photomerged together into today’s final pic.

This gate is much more elaborate than the original in the Edo drawing. Unlike most Shinto shrines in Japan, you can’t enter these Buddhist grounds once they shut the gates at dusk (or before they open them in the morning).
Tokyo after dark
Today’s photo comes from Meguro in Tokyo. The glowing part of town to the right of center is Shibuya, and the Shinjuku skyscrapers can be seen farther to the right and in the distance.
The reflection in the bottom of the pic is from the ledge I set my camera on to take the long exposure.
While taking today’s photo of the Golden Gate Bridge just after sunset I was nearly killed by a “Go Car” driver who hit the accelerator instead of the brake. She ended up crashing into one of the pillars you see in the lower left portion of the photo–the one two down to the right in fact. Had she not hit the post (and she hit it at full speed) she could have ended up over the edge and into the bay, into my car, or into me.
