While wandering around Amsterdam I found myself looking for a restroom in the Magna Plaza, a shopping mall of sorts. Finding a restroom wasn’t as easy as a mall in the USA, but the Magna Plaza was far more visually interesting than the vast majority of shopping centers in the USA so I didn’t mind. If you look closely you can see a store called “America Today”. I found it a bit ironic that you’d find a store wanting to show of its “Americaness” in a shopping center so much nicer than those in America.

The Old Town - Aarhus, Denmark

Perhaps my favorite museum visit, ever, was to Den Gamle By in Aarhus on Jutland. Besides the fact that I love old buildings, I had just the right conditions for visiting this place. I arrived almost an hour before they opened, and the guy at the gate let me in so I got to walk around and imagine myself traveling back in time several hundred years without tourists ruining the illusion. By the time I left a couple hours later, The Old Town was filling up and the ambiance had totally changed.

I believe today’s photo is the inner garden surrounded by “The Mayor’s House” (aka “The Old Mayor’s Residence” or “The Merchant’s House”). This building dates back to the 16th Century and was moved to its current location in 1914 as the first building in Den Gamle By.

Rob Cavestany of Death Angel on stage at Getaway Rock Festival 2011

6 minutes ago at 6 a.m. on 6/6 Death Angel re-released The Ultra-Violence, a CD which has been out of print for more than a decade (and sells for over $50 used). I purchased my copy 25 years ago so I don’t need another. The Ultra-Violence is still my favorite Death Angel release (and probably always will be), but all six of their studio albums are excellent.

Death Angel will be playing The Ultra-Violence, in its entirety, on tour this summer. Unfortunately, they aren’t coming anywhere near me.

A little different than yesterday’s viking axes, today’s photo is from Denmark. Inside the Moesgård Museum on Jutland you can find these beauties. The museum is most famous for its bog body known as Grauballe Man. I’ll have to get photos of him up on here soon.
