It’s not easy shooting a band who plays in the pitch blackness, with nothing but head lamps for lighting. Today’s photo was nearly an instant delete (as it was just a small red light as a jpg). However, when I pulled up the RAW file and lightened it a bit this pattern over the image appeared. Anyone know the source of this design? Given that it isn’t coming from the light, is it from my camera’s sensor, the lens, or just a ghost?

Before this evening, almost a month ago, Watain were among the top five bands I wanted to see live that I hadn’t. The evening was spectacular, and the drumstick thrown out at the end of the performance (2 something a.m.) landed in my own very hands. Thank you Jesus. More photos of Watain to come…

YOB was amazing, as always, this past Friday night at Eugene’s WOW Hall. They played five of the seven songs on their soon-to-be-released album (Our Raw Heart). The new songs sounded awesome. Hopefully YOB tours Europe while I’m over there this summer.
Tonkotsu White Bowl @ Ramen Parlor (San Mateo, California)
About six months ago I enjoyed a fantastic bowl of ramen at Ramen Parlor when I was in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today I went there again and came away a bit disappointed. I asked for mild spice and the bowl was very spicey. If I ever go there again I’ll go with no spice. The spice is on the table so you can add as little as you want rather than risk someone in the back putting way too much on.
