The acreage under many of Japan’s Shinto shrines has decreased over the years. The torii gate in today’s photo welcomes you to Kushida Jinja, yet you have to walk a while to get from this gate to the modern shrine grounds these days. Does the shrine still own all of the land between its historic perimeter and its current location? I don’t know.

Even though we had a CoCo Ichi near us when we lived in Tokyo in 2009 and 2010, I never tried the place until I went back in 2013 (pictured above).

I love katsu (カツ). I love curry (カレー). Someone put them together once upon a time as katsu curry.

Someone thought that adding meatloaf (ミートローフ) and cheese (チーズ) to this combination would also be a good idea (below). I passed on that concept.
