Today’s photo of SUMAC at the 2016 Roskilde Festival is from more than a couple years ago. The guy on the left, Brian Cook, is best known for his work in Russian Circles, a band I was fortunate enough to see for the first time last night in Portland at the Crystal Ballroom (photos coming).

Before this evening, almost a month ago, Watain were among the top five bands I wanted to see live that I hadn’t. The evening was spectacular, and the drumstick thrown out at the end of the performance (2 something a.m.) landed in my own very hands. Thank you Jesus. More photos of Watain to come…

This night, at 2018 Roskilde Festival, was one of the best of my life. I love Dark Tranquillity (who I have now seen in three different countries!). They were fabulous, as was Clutch before them and Nine Inch Nails after them.

I met a guy during their set who said something about knowing the band, yada, yada, yada. Anyway, during NIN the same guy appeared with Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquillity to introduce him to me. I probably said a bunch of stupid stuff at this point (it being long after midnight). After every song I turned around to see Mikael still standing there with a smile on his face during the NIN set. I may have hugged him a dozen times and told him that I loved him. Nobody really knows what happened at this point. It was a lovely evening.
