Johnny B’s – Medford, Oregon

100 watt mind

While watching 100 Watt Mind at Johnny B’s a couple weeks ago, Mr. Johnny B, himself, couldn’t resist Brynna Dean’s vocals. I decided to focus on his unmistakable, greased-back head for this next photo.

Reverse angle on the Ashland Springs Hotel

The more typical photo of the Ashland Springs Hotel is from E Main Street. The view from the rear, with Grizzly Peak in the distance, isn’t bad either.

National Creek Falls (waterfall near Crater Lake)

National Creek Falls

If you happen to be in the neighborhood of Crater Lake in Southern Oregon and want to see some nearby waterfalls, there are several to choose from. Perhaps my favorite is National Creek Falls, which has been deserted both times we have visited. For directions see this prior entry.

Mt. Ashland Ski Area reopens

After taking a few weeks off due to lack of snow, Mt. Ashland Ski Area opened up again this morning thanks to the snow that began on Saturday night and is continuing to fall.

Sign language rapping

I should have taken a video of the lady doing the sign language while Ben Baden was doing his Martin Luther King Jr. rap. A single photo can’t capture how entertaining her performance was.

Ashland's Lithia Park in the snow

We finally have a bit of precipitation going on this week. Today’s photo is from my Sunday morning walk through Lithia Park while it was snowing a couple days ago.

Mt. Shasta in January?

Mt. Shasta

This is what Mt. Shasta should look like from Mt. Ashland in early November. In early December of 2010 Mt. Shasta looked like this. However, I took today’s photo less than a week ago. There is very little snow on Mt. Shasta (or Mt. Ashland), and there hasn’t been any new snow since either.

Churchill Hall before renovation

Today’s photo is from the archives–March 2009 to be more exact. Currently, Churchill Hall on the SOU campus is under construction so there are fences and things making this view less pleasing. While the construction is mostly for the interior, one thing will change when things are completed. All those ancient swamp coolers in the windows of the above picture will certainly be gone.

Amsterdam at night

Today’s photo has nothing to do with Ashland, Oregon. I hope you don’t mind that I stray from Ashland every once in a while. Today’s pic is from Amsterdam last summer. For more of my Amsterdam photos click here.
