End of volleyball season

Yesterday was the last tournament of the season for mOcean volleyball. This one was held at the North Medford High School gym, home of the Black Tornado. My bum is ready to rejoice for not having to sit on a hard, bleacher seat for hours on end any longer.

Ashland’s mOcean Volleyball Club

I have spent the past two Saturday’s in the Old South Medford High School Gym watching volleyball. The girls have fun playing numerous games in one day, but sitting on a hard, wood bleacher seat for 6+ hours is more painful than fun.

Ellie is still 12, but she is tall enough to block the ball. No one is tall enough to block the ball you see in this picture though.

Today’s photo is from the archives. I took this pic of Ellie back in 2007. However, I didn’t like it because it had too much noise. With Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 I easily removed most of the noise so now I’m more happy with the picture.

With Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended I then took the other girl’s foot out of the picture and came up with a slightly better result. To remove an object from an image, after outlining the thing you want removed, select Edit from the menu, and then Fill and Content Aware.

Nevada rest stop

desert scene

I was cleaning off my laptop’s harddrive before selling it and found the above picture. I took this of Ellie and Ryan in the Nevada desert on our way to Utah in July of 2006. If I took this picture with my new camera with GPS I could tell you the exact location. We were on Highway 140/291 near the Oregon/Idaho/Nevada border. I don’t think there was another person around for 50 miles in any direction, maybe 100.

House of Louie

We were starving, getting rained heavily on, and asked only one person what the best Chinese food in town was. She pointed us to House of Louie across the street. We were disappointed. The food was mediocre at best.

We made up for it the next day with a great meal at Mother’s.

My daughter’s first goal

To break up all of the snowy pictures of the past little while I dug in the archives for this photograph from two summers ago when I captured my daughter’s first soccer goal. This soccer field is behind Ashland Middle School.

Bandon, Oregon

I was digging through some old pictures and found the above one from a trip we took to the Southern Oregon Coast more than four years ago. The beach house we rented was in Bandon. Those aren’t pictures you see on the walls. Those are windows. My kids seemed more interested in the TV, but I couldn’t stop looking out the windows.
