Coco Crisp leads off as Barry Zito delivers the pitch at AT&T Park
Today’s photo has nothing to do with the subject line (other than the fact that the A’s were involved), but that is only because I didn’t have a camera when I went to the A’s game on October 15, 1981 and Krazy George started the first wave. I was only 12 years old at the time, but I remember that game well.

I sat behind Wally Bell on an April evening last year. Today he died. As someone who didn’t care about the outcome of the game (my A’s weren’t playing), I found nothing about his calls to dislike. His punch outs on called third strikes were quite entertaining.
RIP Wally.

Bergen from Fløyen
On one of the rare days in which it isn’t raining in Bergen, the place is absolutely beautiful. With average rainfall approaching 100 inches per year (for reference for those of you, like me, who live in the Pacific Northwest, that’s more than Portland and Seattle combined!), a view like this isn’t frequently possible. I hope to visit Bergen again someday.
O.Co Coliseum and Oracle Arena
Today Game 2 of the ALDS will happen at the O.co Coliseum between the Oakland A’s and Detroit Tigers. I wish I was flying in again like I was back in May when I took today’s photo.
