Oh Sadaharu Baseball Museum (王貞治ベースボールミュージアム)
If you are in Japan in October or early November you may want to consider heading to Hakuba for a canoe/biking tour. The place is empty this time of year as nearly all of the summer hikers are gone and the winter skiers have yet to arrive. However, the colors are fantastic and not to be missed.
I have seen Mt. Fuji from Kofu many times. In fact I could see Fuji San from my apartment window in Kofu back in the 1980s. Seeing it from Shosenkyo (昇仙峡) would have been fabulous, but this was the hottest day of the year, and the air was thick with moisture–not the cooling kind of wetness, the muggy, mushiatsui (蒸し暑い) kind. Those are the worst days for visibility and a good reason to go to Japan in winter if you want to see Mt. Fuji.
I’m not sure exactly where I was when I took today’s photo last year. What I do know is I was riding on the shinkansen (新幹線) between Fukuoka (Hakata) and Hiroshima at more than 150 miles per hour. I was probably near or between the Shin-Iwakuni (新岩国), Tokuyama (徳山), or the Shin-Yamaguchi (新山口) stations.
