Roskilde bound

list setlist running order bands 2019 roskilde festival lineup schedule

2019 Roskilde Festival lineup

#rf19 @orangefeeling @BehemothBand

Six months ago, had you asked me, “who are the top three bands, still active, that you have yet to see live?” I would have answered:

Rammstein
Behemoth
Primordial

Less than five months from now, all three of those bands will no longer be on my list. Behemoth is coming to the Roskilde Festival, I’ll see Rammstein in Russia, and Primordial I’m going to see twice (in Sweden @ Gefle Metal Festival and in Czech @ Brutal Assault).

Who else should I see at the Roskilde Festival?

So far I’m planning on Ulver and Power Trip on Wednesday. For Thursday I’ll see Robert Plant, Testament, Full of Hell/The Body, and Parquet Courts (never listened to them before, but my son says I should check them out). Friday I’m teaching all day so I’ll rest up and not go to Roskilde. Saturday will be epic with Behemoth and The Cure. I’ll also check out Converge and Whores, although I’m unfamiliar with both at this point.

Happy birthday, Dee Brown!

応援歌 Dermal Brown

Dee Brown of the Seibu Lions fight song (応援歌)

Dee Brown, formerly of my Oakland A’s (for three at bats anyway–two of which ended with a strike out), played for my Japanese team, the Seibu Lions, as well. This card, the cheerleader is holding, shows his fight song which can be translated as:

I believe you
I believe you
Shoot and flap far with the crack of the bat

I’m guessing the “I believe you” part should actually be “I believe in you” and the rest is basically asking for a home run or a well-hit ball. Rather than a walk-out song, like we have in the USA, in Japan these individualized fight songs are played/sung throughout a player’s at bat.
