Overkill @ Copenhell

Over 30 years ago I saw Megadeth on the “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?” tour at The Stone in San Francisco. Overkill was the opener. I’ve been a fan of Overkill ever since, but Copenhell 2017 is just the second time I’ve had the chance to see them play live. They were a lot of fun and sounded really good.

Diamond Head’s Brian Tatler @ 2016 Metal Brew

Copenhell hasn’t been over for more than 70 hours, yet I’m craving more. I’ll be going to the Roskilde Festival for four days in a row beginning tomorrow, and yet I know I’ll be going through withdrawals next week. So even though I previously said, with regard to the Metal Magic Festival, that

“If Diamond Head is playing on Thursday or Saturday AND at least two of the bands below are also playing on Thursday or Saturday, then I will probably make the trip for just that day.

Tribulation
Absu”

and although Diamond Head is playing Saturday and only Absu is also playing on Saturday, I’ve decided to make the trip to Fredericia again anyway.

My reasoning is that if Diamond Head was ever playing two hours away from me in Southern Oregon, I’d make the trip. Therefore, tossing Absu in as an added bonus means I should make the journey while I have the chance.

So next Saturday I’ll be adding the Metal Magic Festival to my summer itinerary.

No Sleep ’til Hammersmith

On this day in 1981 Motorhead released “No Sleep ’til Hammersmith”. Last summer I found it hard to resist taking this photo while riding the Tube with my wife getting plenty of sleep ’til Hammersmith. We were actually on our way to Kew Gardens.
