Happy Summer Solstice!
This was the scene well after 10 p.m. last night out my bedroom window for the solstice. I’ll get to watch the sky change behind this Nyboder backdrop for the next five weeks. Some of these buildings were built in the 1600s and 1700s by Christian IV. The church on the left is St. Paul’s and the one on the right is the Marble Church.

Vesterbro Vinstue
I don’t eat out often in Copenhagen. The food just isn’t usually that good, and it’s always expensive. However, if you are in Copenhagen, and want a first-class meal, Vesterbro Vinstue is the place to go. You can order individual items for 95 DKK each or get a five-course dinner for 350 DKK (a bit over $50 but tax is included and tipping isn’t done in Denmark). Compare that to Noma which is 2,250 DKK (and is all vegetarian or vegan).
I have no idea what the above item is. All I know is I’ve been to Vesterbro Vinstue twice, have had 10 different things, all were awesome, and I didn’t know what any of them were.
Tax Day!
Today’s photo is of Skatteministeriet from Christiansborg Slot. Skatteministeriet is a government building in Copenhagen. More specifically, it’s the home of the Danish Ministry of Taxation.
Tax day is usually April 15 in the USA, but this year, because April 15 was a Sunday, the deadline is extended until today. I did more tax returns this year than I’ve done any year since the 1990s. What’s wrong with me?
Back to today’s photo… Getting to the top of the tower in Christiansborg is easy (mostly elevator) and free! It may be the best free view in Copenhagen.
