Wildflowers in Banff’s Sunshine Meadows

Today’s photo comes from the most wildflower day of my 56 years of existence. We hiked almost 10 miles and had wildflowers for most of them. Sometimes there were so many wildflowers my brain felt like it would explode. So many different ones too. We saw at least a dozen different varieties of wildflowers amongst the thousands (millions?) of total wildflowers.

I didn’t realize this at the time, but our hiking started in Alberta, crossed into British Columbia for three or four miles, and then ended up back in Alberta.

The Lodge @ Hot Lake Springs (La Grande, Oregon – July 31, 2024)

I booked this place because I thought hot springs after an 8+ hour drive would be nice to soak in. Also, the room I booked (Room 324) had a private bathroom, king bed, and was newly renovated. (Some of the other rooms have shared bathrooms and queen beds.) The place was great, even though very odd. We didn’t know it was a former sanatorium or any of its history until we got there. We also didn’t know that ours was the only room on third floor or that the third floor is (allegedly) haunted!

Præstø rabbit

One of the happy surprises I encountered while traveling this past summer was my Airbnb outside the downtown area of Præstø, Denmark. I stayed in an old farmhouse. Out back there were lots of animals–some wild. This one wasn’t wild but full of personality instead.
