Back in 1994 we spent a few nights camping in Yosemite with friends. The catch was that to get the camping sites we agreed to do some service in the park. Our project was to plant saplings along the Merced River in this spot to prevent erosion of the banks of the river. The trees were just a few feet tall, at most, when we planted them.
Fast forward nearly 20 years to our next visit to Yosemite and we got to see that our saplings had grown into these 20-30 feet high trees.
