No, this is not Dave Mustaine. That was last year. Copenhell does not repeat acts on consecutive years.

This photo is the future. Slægt is from Denmark, and with any luck, they will be the best thing to come out of Denmark since King Diamond. (Lars Ulrich doesn’t count since everything Metallica has done since Cliff Burton died–especially the drums–has been awful.)

Today is the first day of the last five days that I’m not traveling to or from the San Francisco Bay Area. Today’s photo comes from Dunsmuir, California on day three. The short walk to this waterfall, just off of I-5, is a nice place for a break from driving.

Sukiyaki (すき焼き) @ Miyajima’s Iwaso (岩惣)

When you stay at a nicer inn in Japan, dinner is frequently included in the price. At the fancier places the meal is usually a kaiseki (会席料理) affair of mostly seafood. I’m not a big fan of seafood (although I have enjoyed it to some extent in Japan). So when I booked my room at Iwaso I requested a mostly non-seafood dinner, if possible, even though seafood is the norm. To my utter amazement, sukiyaki (my favorite dish anywhere) was part of the meal.
