Walla Walla walk

Walla Walla Walkin

I had hours to kill in Walla Walla last Friday. I was thinking about going to Palouse Falls, but it rained all morning, and I didn’t want to drive over 3 hours round trip with a chance of not seeing the falls due to rain. When things cleared up I opted for a shorter drive and walk (from Rooks Park to Bennington Lake where this photo was taken). The sky was really pretty the entire time. In some ways I was regretting not seeing Palouse Falls with such a spectacular sky, but it was too late at that point to make the trip. Next time…

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls

We spent Saturday night, on our way from Walla Walla back to Ashland, in The Dalles. We woke up to a glorious view of the Columbia River. The mountains on either side of the gorge were dusted in snow and cool-looking clouds were flying by in between mostly blue skies. As we drove west on Highway 84 rainbows kept appearing ahead of us in the water of the already spectacular scene. We didn’t stop to get photos as there wasn’t any place safe to stop until we got to Multnomah Falls where today’s photo comes from.

Ellie is still figuring out where she will be in the fall. Today she is checking out Whitman. Ryan is already a Duck. Maybe today’s photo represents my kids’ future?

California Coast (from the air)

aerial california coast pacific ocean highway

My random, desktop image of the day is this one. This coastline is somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This was one of those frustrating, backtracking flights. I started out in Medford, flew south to L.A., and then flew from L.A. to Tokyo. The Los Angeles to Narita leg covered much of the same ground, in reverse, from my first flight. I flew over San Francisco in my first flight and my second (shortly after this photo was taken).

If you click on the photo you can see the coast up close. Anyone know, specifically, where this little stretch of houses between the road and ocean is?
