Lake Abert and Abert Rim from Highway 395
I love driving on roads for the first time. Yesterday I drove from Boise, Idaho to Ashland, Oregon. Along the way I caught a stretch of highway for the first time. That highway was the road between Burns and Lakeview. This scene surprised me.

A hundred years ago Spokane’s iconic smoke stacks provided power to hundreds of buildings downtown. Now they are home to the Steam Plant Brewing Co. From our hotel room the colorfully lit symbols of days gone by were lovely.

This isn’t the normal, “postcard” shot of Crater Lake, but sometimes you miss the trees for the forest when you look at Crater Lake only as a whole. The details are quite lovely as well as the big picture.
