Almost two months ago, I departed Havre, Montana one Sunday morning with Spokane, Washington being my destination for the day. The road from Havre to Great Falls was one of the most deserted I’ve ever been on. I pulled over near Fort Benton for a quick break when today’s photo was taken. The view behind me was of a horseshoe bend in the Missouri River called the “Missouri River Overlook” which I’ll have to post a photo of one of these days. Anyway, Lewis & Clark hung out here 217 years prior.
As mentioned previously, the Goat Rocks Fire nearly ruined our long-planned trip to Mount Rainier. The fire began a few days before we arrived, and the poor air quality peaked on the day of our arrival. Luckily, it got much better each day we were there. By the time I took today’s photo, five days later, the smoke was only visible when directly looking at the affected area.
