One of my graduating seniors wrote “School’s out fooor….EVER” on the back of her final exam yesterday. I don’t know if she knows I’m an Alice Cooper fan or not, but I got a good chuckle out it. I have an Alice Cooper $100 bill (which I caught shortly after taking today’s photo) on the wall of my office so maybe she knew.

A year ago, today’s photo happened. Next week, it will happen again. Well, not exactly. I won’t see Solstafir at Copenhell this year, but I will head to Solstafir’s homeland (Iceland) and be at Copenhell.
I put Solstafir’s new album on in the car last week. Three songs in, a couple of my friends in the car said, “Who is this? They are amazing!”
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats @ 2016 Roskilde Festival
Six weeks from today I will be standing in front of Red Fang at the 2017 Roskilde Festival. Today’s photo is from last year. Uncle Acid was a pleasant surprise.
Slade UK poster on the streets of Prague
Today’s photo is my random, desktop image. I took this on the way back to my Airbnb one night last summer. Slade UK isn’t the real Slade. They are a cover band. I saw the real Slade back in early 1984. They opened for Ozzy at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. The crowd did not like them. They got booed off the stage, and the band took a lot of abuse from the audience. I remember a roll of toilet paper hitting one of the members in the head.
That was the very last time Slade played with all of the original members. Wikipedia describes it as a “warm-up gig”, and says Jim Lea “collapsed in the dressing room” and was “diagnosed with Hepatitis C”.

A few weeks back I mentioned that I was shooting 2017 Copenhell. Turns out I will also be shooting the 2017 Roskilde Festival (Red Fang, High on Fire, Foo Fighters, Anthrax, Cult of Luna, Atomikyla, Baby Woodrose, Circuit De Yeux, Neurosis, Oathbreaker, Oranssi Pazuzu, etc.) and Gefle Metal Festival 2017 (Death Angel, Nervosa, Sanctuary, Bloodbath, Insomnium, Testament, Sodom, Destroyer 666, Dark Funeral, Grand Magus, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Pagandom, Taake, etc.)! Amon Amarth will be at the Gefle Metal Festival (formerly known as the Getaway Rock Festival).
