We visited Paschal Winery & Vineyard for the first time this past weekend. Paschal isn’t far from Ashland, just a few minutes up the road in Talent. I took today’s panorama from the deck. Just to the left of center is a different angle on Grizzly Peak than I’m used to from Ashland. On the right side of the photo is Wagner Butte. Mt. Ashland can’t be seen from this location. If you look really closely you may be able to spot the moon and a baby.

Pelican Bay is most famous for its prison, but just a couple miles from the prison, on Pelican Bay itself, is a decent beach. And, yes, that is a pelican in the distance.
On my way back from Sacramento I pulled off of I-5 somewhere between Dunsmuir and Weed to pee. I looked up at the beautiful Milky Way and decided a photo was needed. So I opened my shutter while doing my business and this pic was the result.

Yesterday afternoon while taking my daily bike ride I couldn’t help but notice the thousands of tents being set up on the Iowa Street softball fields. I decided to go back last night to see what Cycle Oregon’s visit to Ashland would look like under the stars.
I received a call yesterday notifying me that I had won the 2012 Travel Essentials Photo Contest. Yahoo! Thank you Travel Essentials and Briggs & Riley for the excellent luggage. I will put them to good use.
And thanks to those of you who weighed in when I was deliberating which photos to send in. My other submission came in 25th place.
Today’s photo is of the most common view on this blog, out my window. It has been many months since I’ve taken a pic from this location. The view has been rather boring this summer with endless days of either blue or smoky skies. But yesterday the sunrise was rather nice with the smoke (from the Goff (aka Fort Complex) Fire that has been burning thousands of acres in the Applegate for over a month now) mostly gone and some interesting clouds.
After Witch Cult we had another female-fronted band to partake of, Night Nurse (great name for a band BTW) from Portland.
Every once in a blue moon a night can be very special AND feature an actual blue moon. No, the color of the moon wasn’t blue (although I took this photo when blue light from the stage was bathing the audience). But on August 31, 2012, when Brandi Carlile played at Britt Festivals in Jacksonville, we had our second full moon of the month which is what a blue moon is. The next calendar blue moon won’t be until July of 2015. Hopefully Brandi will be back at Britt on that evening too.
