Less than two months ago the SOU football team was ranked #22. Things have gone as good as could be expected since then. Last week they were #7. The Raiders didn’t have to play last weekend to move up two more spots in the national rankings.

Ashland sunrise before the storm
About 10 days ago we had a rare day full of rain in Ashland. Before the rain began, the sunrise was rather spectacular. I was a minute or so late on this photo to catch the wave that formed in the sky, but you can sort of see a less impressive version of it here.

With last night’s win at Northwest, the Southern Oregon University women’s volleyball team moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Cascade Conference. They play again tonight against Evergreen State College. Their next game in Ashland is on October 24.

My new Nikon D750 has wifi capabilities built into it. Today’s photo is my first test of those capabilities. I installed the Nikon software (wireless mobile utility) on my cell phone, turned the D750’s wi-fi on, set the camera down on my desk, and I was ready to go. I couldn’t change the aperture or shutter speed from my phone, but I could change the focus (by touching the screen) and take the picture without touching the camera. Fun. Now I may actually be able to show up in my own photos on occasion.
