@AJ_Peterson1 Regionals begin this weekend with the Beavers staying home to host UNLV, UC Irvine, and North Dakota State.
Today’s photo is from the 2013 season. Andy Peterson has since changed numbers to #1. He leads the Beavers in stolen bases this season with 9. He is also tied for second on the team with 41 runs scored.
I thought this was for the 4th of July, but apparently my neighbors who own these procreating pink flamingos have something else in store for July.
Once upon a time, 30 years ago, I had a friend who was into Stryper. I went along with him to one of their shows, much more to see the silliness than to show the band any kind of support. Strange as the evening was, I ended up catching a Stryper bible. Somewhere in a box in my garage is that relic from the past.
Fast forward to last Thursday night. BugGiRL’s Stryper-inspired logo graced the Club 66 stage while the drummer sported a throw-back denim vest with Stryper back patch. The night was destined to be a tongue-in-cheek fun one, and BugGiRL did not disappoint.
Did I mention that their current album is called “Lesbians for Satan”? Stryper would be proud. 😉
Their tour continues through California, Arizona, and Texas so check them out if you are anywhere near their route.
@earlymanmusic @ToxicHolocaust @3iob Once upon a time (1/11/09 to be exact), Early Man was booked to play at Stillwater with 3 Inches of Blood and Toxic Holocaust. I was there and enjoyed 3IoB and Toxic Holocaust. However, even though my memory tells me that Early Man had some sort of vehicle troubles and couldn’t make it, everyone I talk to says they remember seeing Early Man play at that show. Flash forward 5+ years and Stillwater has become Club 66 and Early Man is set to play again. I figured my memory would be jogged when I saw them again and I’d realize that indeed I had seen them before.
That didn’t happen. So after the show I asked Pete if they had ever played at this location before. His response was that they were once scheduled to play at the current residence of Club 66, but he has no memory of having done so. Therefore, I believe this was Early Man’s first appearance in Ashland. If someone has a photo or some evidence from that 2009 evening that can prove Early Man was indeed there I would love to see it.
Ashland High School baseball avoided the play-in round of games by finishing 4th in the state rankings. That means they will likely have two home games. The first is May 28. If they win that game they will get another game in Ashland on May 30. The bad news is that due to the late season defeats they will probably have to travel to the #1 seed (unless Bend is upset before then) for the semifinal round. Had they ended the regular season ranked higher they could have earned an additional home game. Go Grizz!
Whenever I go for a hike I face the dilemma of whether or not to bring my camera and if I bring it which lens. Sometimes I just attach a prime 24mm lens to minimize weight and size. But if I had gone that route when we did Lower Table Rock a couple weeks ago I would have missed out on this shot. My 24-120mm comes in very handy in such situations.
@OregonSB @CheridanH11 The Ducks hosted three other teams trying to get through them to the 2014 College Softball World Series this weekend. The regionals are a double-elimination format. The #1 ranked Ducks didn’t even use their one allowed loss. Instead, they went 3-0 to set up next weekend’s best two out of three series with #16 Minnesota. The winner will be going to the NCAA Women’s College Softball World Series.
Cheridan Hawkins is 31-4 so far this season with 302 strikeouts in 217 innings of work. Wisconsin was ranked #25 before losing twice to Oregon.
