Klaksvik (Faroe Islands)

This was almost the view from my sleeping spot one night this past July in the Faroe Islands. It didn’t end up being my resting place due to two things. The first is the wind, which was so strong on the prior night that I didn’t sleep so well as my campervan rocked much of the night. The wind was strong when I took this so I opted for a spot nearby, between two buildings, to gain some shelter from the wind. The second is that this location was at the base of a hiking trail. One thing I learned from prior nights is that the Faroese people like to hike early in the morning, and I didn’t really want a stream of people coming by my campervan while I was still waking up.

Pilsner Urquell Brewery interior (Plzen, Czech Republic)

Seems like it should last until the end of October but whatever…

Today’s photo comes from the brewery of the original Pilsner, Pilsner Urquell. First brewed in 1842 by Bavarian brewer Josef Groll, it’s unfortunate that to taste this beer as it’s meant to be tasted, you have to go to the Czech Republic. The beer doesn’t age well or taste great out of a can or bottle IMO.

On the other hand, if I’m to be transported instantly to drink a beer on tap/draft then that location is the Czech Republic and that beer is Pilsner Urquell.

Viðareiði Kirkja (Faroe Islands – July 2021)

Today’s photo is best viewed while listening to Afsky. I was listening to Afsky while taking the photo, and then, while processing the photo a couple months later, Afsky magically played randomly off my hard drive (which has about 5,000 songs to choose from–and only about 15 of them are Afsky).

One of the live members of Afsky and I were chatting at Metal Magic a week before this photo was taken. I told him I was going to the Faroe Islands, and he informed me that he had lived there for a while. The music on my phone after Metal Magic was trimmed down to Afsky and bands playing at Josefstadt, so, not surprisingly, I listened to a lot of Afsky while cruising around in my campervan on the Faroe Islands. The two went together perfectly, and now I think of the Faroe Islands when Afsky comes on or Afsky when a random photo of the Faroe Islands shows up as my random, desktop image of the day like this photo did.
