小金井公園ビジターセンター
Today’s photo comes from a walk I did in Tokyo over six years ago. If I ever make it back to this place I want to visit the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. In addition to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum they have now added an indoor museum (江戸東京博物館).
Oaks Pioneer Church (Portland, Oregon)
Oaks Pioneer Church was built in 1851. In 1960 the old church had fallen into disuse and was scheduled for demolition. Funds were raised to keep the church from destruction, and in 1961 the church was shipped to its current location at the edge of Sellwood Park next to the Willamette River. Oaks Pioneer Church is now listed as a Portland Historical Landmark and is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Weddings are performed here.
I stumbled upon this place on my way to the Gorge for the Dave Matthews Band Labor Day Weekend festivities. I had never been to Sellwood before, even though I’ve been to Portland many times. Great neighborhood.
St. Francis of Assissi Church and Church of the Holy Saviour (Kostel Nejsvetejsiho Salvatora)
Today’s photo is a reverse angle (taken a bit earlier in the evening) from the same location I took this prior picture. A walk down the street ahead (slightly to the right of center in this image) will take you to Old Town Square, perhaps the most picturesque square in the world.
Gate City Ohsaki sunset
Gate City Osaki (ゲートシティ大崎) is an artificial (urban renewal) city constructed on the Yamanote Line about 10 years before I took today’s photo in 2010. I’m not a big fan of such places, not being a shopper and all. However, the sunset on this day was lovely.
