A two-day volleyball tournament gets underway today in Eugene featuring some of the best teams in the country. Matches will take place at the Matthew Knight Arena and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network. Besides the University of Oregon, the other teams are coming from the University of Florida, University of Nebraska, and University of Texas. Nebraska is ranked #1, and Texas is #2 in the country.

I intended to see Kvelertak back in 2014 with Mastodon and Gojira. A photo pass never materialized for that show, though, so I didn’t go. Strangely, I still got to see Kvelertak and Gojira together. It just took an extra two-plus years and a trip to Denmark to have the experience.
Kvelertak’s show was live streamed on Red Bull TV. Sadly, I can’t find it on the internet. Anyone have a copy or URL they can point me to?

When he talks about playing a song live for just the second time, he is talking about “Starcrossed” (from the “Death & Progress” album) which Diamond Head played live for the first time at Metal Brew.
The Millennium Bridge was destroyed by Death Eaters at the beginning of one of the Harry Potter movies. It looked pretty good on the day I crossed it earlier this month. Ironically, the actor who played Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, went to the City of London School right next to this bridge.

The largest empire in history “collected” (some would say stole) many significant pieces of history. Then, in the early 1960s, Britain created a law preventing the return of anything in their collections to the various countries of origin. If it’s legal it must be ethical, right?
Anyway, people can come see these items for free so that’s something. The problem is that if you visit, like we did, on a rainy day in early August things can get ridiculously crowded. Picture the Mona-Lisa-in-the-Louvre crowded.
