The Who @ Desert Trip

The Who @ Desert Trip

I saw The Who a couple times before, once in the 1990s and once in 2000 (at one of John Entwistle’s last shows), and it was fun to see them again at Desert Trip after a 16-year break. I cried a little bit during “The Kids Are Alright” but that’s only because I’m a new empty nester.

Dusk @ Desert Trip

Desert Trip is over but not forgotten. Today a bootleg of the first weekend arrived in my inbox, and I’ve been enjoying Desert Trip again.

Roger Waters @ Desert Trip

I wouldn’t have gone to Desert Trip if Roger Waters hadn’t been on the bill. The thought of seeing him again is what interested me from the outset. I’ve seen him four times before, each time bigger and better than the last. I’ve been to hundreds of, if not over a thousand, shows in my lifetime, and those five shows are all in my Top 10.

The Desert Trip Photography Experience

The images found at The Desert Trip Photography Experience don’t appear to be available online. For instance, this one of Roger, taken by Michael Putland when Pink Floyd played at the 1975 Knebworth Festival in the UK, I hadn’t seen before and can’t find online.

One of my favorite films from the 2016 Ashland Independent Film Festival, The Birth of Sake, is showing on PBS over the next few days. See the trailer and check your local listings here.
