Today’s photo comes from more than eight years ago, my pre-DSLR days. The building in the middle is the Meguro Incineration Plant (目黒清掃工場) which was torn down in 2017. A new plant is supposed to be operational on this spot in a few years.

Today’s photo may look tranquil, but in reality the moment wasn’t. Thunder was cracking and lightning was soon about to begin. A downpour ensued on one of the most interesting evenings I’ve ever encountered.

We’ve been in Hawaii for a few days now. We are staying on the east side of Oahu so we don’t normally see sunsets like these (although we do get to see the sun rise). A couple nights ago we happened to be in Honolulu just as the sun was setting when I captured this image.
