I don’t think I have noticed one of these before, but the Hotel Stratford in San Francisco on Powell Street has figured out a way to maximize its revenue by using its high-traffic location to advertise. It seems you can rent “billboard space” right on the side of their building.
View from Castle Lake Trail
More than three years ago I posted a photo on my other blog showing Castle Lake from near the parking lot. Today’s photo is from the other direction looking back toward where I took that previous pic. The season is a bit different as well. Today’s photograph is from August. The other was from late spring. If you were to stand in this spot right now (December) you would be in several feet of snow, the lake wouldn’t have any people in it (if you click on the photo for a larger view you can see several kayaks), and Mt. Shasta would be completely white with snow.
I hope I look as good as Wolf when I turn 53. He was “only” 51 when I took this photo, but still…
Lizard at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park
Even though, at first glance, it may look as if this lizard is airborne, it was actually on the side of a glass aquarium. I suppose in the wild this lizard would be very difficult to see on a limb of a tree. On the side of clear glass, the lizard stood out.
On my trip to Southern California earlier this year we did a dinner cruise in Newport Bay. This photo was taken near the end of the bay near the end of the Balboa Peninsula. I think that’s the jetty to the left after the houses on Balboa Boulevard end.
