Walla Walla, Washington from Highway 12 @ 60 MPH
I always wondered what a place called Walla Walla would look like.
Heading out of Walla Walla last week, on our way to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho via Spokane, the lighting (followed by the sunset) was really fantastic. Unfortunately, we were going about 60 MPH. Fortunately, I wasn’t the driver. I took today’s photo out my window as we sped down the highway to our final destination.
Beatty, Oregon between storms (February 2015)
I have posted photos from Beatty before here and here. Our friends have a ranch in Beatty so we have been there several times, but the last couple days were our first visit in winter. The weather was all over the place. Sometimes below freezing, sometimes sunny and almost warm–snow, hail, and rain all fell from the skies. Today’s photo comes during a sunny interlude between a snow storm and a hail storm. There was no wind at the moment I took this, but there were extreme winds less than a half hour before.

My random image of the day was this one from early last year. We were in Eugene and had to escape to the mall as this storm was dumping large amounts of rain on parts of town.
Tomorrow we will head back up I-5 to drop Ryan off for his first year of college at the University of Oregon.

The view from El Pipila is always excellent, but when the sun is about to go down and two days of heavy storms have just concluded things can go from excellent to outstanding.

I learned this past week that weather.com is not to be trusted when it comes to weather in Guanajuato. The forecast just before I left the USA was for highs in the 80s, lows in the 60s, and a few sprinkles the entire 10 days I’m in Mexico. When I arrived the streets were flooding from extreme amounts of rain. The rain was incredible for my first two days here. The revised forecast is for highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Too bad I didn’t prepare for such temperatures.
Today’s photo comes from the end of the storms. Weather.com said we had a 100% chance of rain yesterday afternoon and evening, yet there was no rain and the skies were beautiful.
