Opening for Skelator at Musichead this past Friday night was Machetaso Profano, a two-piece band out of Portland. That evening had the distinction of having an opening two-member band, followed by a three-member band, followed by a four-member band, and finally finished off with a five-member band. There was something mathematically majestic in that band ordering.
I spent yesterday on the sidelines of the Ducks-Utes game in Eugene. The weather wasn’t too bad. In fact, it only rained during the pregame. It was mostly cloudy the rest of the time, but I can’t complain. A day game without rain is more than I expected.
I took nearly 900 photos and have only looked at about 50 at this point. I’ll post some more here soon.
Tomorrow night (11/15/13), beginning at 6 p.m., four bands will hit the stage in Medford. It has been a while (6+ months) since I’ve seen Witch Cult. Skelator and Machetaso Profano will be firsts for me.
Today’s image came from a download I did more than a week ago when I was thinking I was going to be heading up to Eugene this Saturday to see the Ducks continue their march to an undefeated season and a National Championship. However, Stanford got in the way of that plan last week. The bright side is that Saturday’s game is now going to be a day game (as the Stanford vs. USC game became the night game). I have a photo pass, will be on the sidelines, and won’t have to deal with the slower shutter speeds that would have come with a night game.
Friday night (11/1/13) Floater headlined at the Rogue Theatre in Grants Pass. I think I have seen Floater at least two dozen times now. They are always wonderful. I wish they would coming farther south as the one time they played in Medford I was out of the country, and it has been more than a decade since they played in Ashland.
Sometimes I’m mildly disappointed with a band the second time I see them. Perhaps I build the first experience up in my head and expect them to top that false memory the second go around. In any event, that was not the case with Hell’s Belles on my second trip with them. I had even more fun the second go around (11/2/13 in Grants Pass) than I did earlier this year in Eugene.
More pics from this fantastic evening (including The Hollowbodys and 100 Watt Mind) coming soon.
Sylent Storm plays again in Medford at Musichead on November 11 (with Diemonds) and 15 (with Skelator and Witch Cult).
