I’m not sure exactly where I was when I took the above photo. This was somewhere between BART and the stadium (then known as AT&T Park) where we saw Roger Water’s perform The Wall.

High Sierra does something I haven’t seen regularly done at music festivals, and that is to have pre-planned artist collaborations around a particular theme. Nearly all of these events take place in the High Sierra Music Hall (AKA: Serpilio Hall on the grounds of the Plumas Sierra County Fair). Given that this year’s festival was hot every day (90s in the shade by noon), and this venue had air conditioning (that didn’t work great but was still enough to make it cooler indoors than out), it became the go-to place before the sun finally went down each day.
One such event was the band Eggy doing some Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young tunes (sometimes with guest artists).
The setlist was something like this:

Redwoods framing trail on Lookout Point Trail
On our way to the Hog Farm Hideaway, we spent a night camping in the redwoods. After setting up my tent, I went for a walk and saw a sign for “Lookout Point Trail”. The lookout was supposed to be just .3 miles ahead. With my bad back I figured I could still easily do it so I set off. Alas, I took a wrong turn and ended up doing more than a mile loop before finding the lookout. The lookout has long since become obstructed by trees so you can’t really see much, but the trail was spectacular if you like redwoods.
