Tis the season…

King Diamond (and grandma) @ Copenhell 2016

Not only is Halloween just around the corner, but so is Copenhell 2017. It looks like I will be there for the second year in a row. So far they have only announced a few bands, but I’m excited to see Candlemass (as they rarely make it to the USA, and I’ve been a fan since 1986) and Overkill (who I haven’t seen since 1987).

If any of the powers that be at Copenhell are reading this, the bands I’d most like to see at Copenhell 2017 include Rammstein, Kampfar, Watain, and Death Angel. Please and thank you.

Tonight’s the night…

Neil Young

Neil Young @ Roskilde Festival 2016

I’m currently at Desert Trip in Southern California. Last night was Bob Dylan and then The Rolling Stones. Tonight is Neil Young and then Paul McCartney. Tomorrow night is The Who and then Roger Waters. I’m here mainly for Neil Young and Roger Waters, but The Rolling Stones were incredible last night.

St. Peter’s Church

Sankt Petri Kyrka

The oldest building in Malmö, clocking in at nearly 700 years old, is Sankt Petri Kyrka. Some parts are “only” 600 years old.

I didn’t have my wide-angle lens with me at the time, and this place is far too large to fit into a single frame at 24mm on a crop sensor camera like my D500, so this is actually three photos merged together.

Elgin Marbles

Parthenon Marbles in the Duveen Gallery of the British Museum

At some point the Elgin Marbles will make their way back to Greece as their presence in the British Museum seems very wrong. At that point, I’m guessing admission to the British Museum will go from free to 30 pounds as they can’t exactly charge people to see stolen property currently.

Today’s photo features marble sculpture created about 2,500 years ago on the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens. If you look really closely you can see holes in certain places. These weren’t from destruction in transport. Instead, these are original and were there to hold objects that are now missing like horse bridle, reigns, etc.
