King Diamond watching Black Sabbath’s final performance in Copenhagen (June 2016)

I’m still smiling from the King’s performance in Mercyful Fate on the 39th anniversary of the release of Melissa this past Sunday night.
Looks like 2019 Copenhell was my final Copenhell. I would have been there in 2020 and 2021 had they happened, but they didn’t. Covid killed not only those years but my summer job in Copenhagen as well.
Seeing who was playing at 2022 Copenhell made me super depressed (Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendencies, Mastodon, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Emperor, Denial of God, Nyredolk, Redwood Hill, etc.), but the announced acts for 2023 so far aren’t having the same impact on me. Sure, I’d love to see Kellermensch again and a few others, but you couldn’t pay me to see Motley Crue or Def Leppard.

11:40 a.m. for today’s photo. This wasn’t the first band I saw on this day (not even counting the bands from the night before that went into the morning), and the last band, for me, wasn’t going on until more than 12 hours later. Sounds like a long day, but this was only day two of four. I had finished the morning with Hypocrisy at about 2 a.m.
Discounted tickets (until December) for 2023 Brutal Assault are on sale now.
