I made it back to Bakken, the world’s oldest amusement park, this summer for the first time in 13 years. According to my Danish friend, the same family has run this business for over 400 years!
The game in today’s photo has you sitting on a toilet while you spray the guy in the bathtub! The English translation of the official page says “It’s fucking fun!” Obviously, Denmark is a little more open to things than many parts of the world.
An empty bottle collection would have been far more impressive. This seemed like a bit of a waste.
The Scotch Whisky Experience seemed silly at first, but by the end I enjoyed it. I don’t know if that would have been the case without Covid as the crowds are usually pretty bad I hear. I didn’t wait at all or need to buy a ticket in advance like most people, and my tour included five people instead of the normal 20+.
It’s not uncommon for me to get goosebumps at concerts. But Afsky’s soundcheck at 2021 Metal Magic Festival was the first time I’ve experienced that before the actual performance. I may have even teared up during the soundcheck. And then the actual show, with great sound, lighting, and atmosphere was wow, just wow!
Haldarsvik wasn’t on my radar for the Faroe Islands, but, like many other small towns, I happened upon it on my way to another place that was (Tjørnuvík). The stone church in the village is from 1856. It is the only octagonal church on the Faroe Islands. Beautiful town with a waterfall going right through the middle. The body of water is not a fjord; that’s the Atlantic Ocean with another island on the other side.
