Today’s photo comes from the land of Hans Christian Andersen. I almost ended up in a place this summer on Nyhavn, just a door or two down from his former abode. Alas, the person didn’t get back to me until after I’d booked the place I will be staying in. Maybe next year.

Today’s photo comes from near the top of the Shosenkyo Ropeway (昇仙峡ロープウェイ) in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.
I believe the bell is meant for lovers. I think they are supposed to strike the bell together, write themselves a note, stick the note in the nearby mailbox, and then a year later the note arrives in their home mailbox.
I had no lover with me on this day so I walked across the way for some shaved ice instead.
