Mt. Rundle, Bow River, and Hoodoos

We were 6+ miles into our 10 or so miles of hiking on this day when we were rewarded with this view. We had it all to ourselves for about two minutes and then 40+ people, who had merely driven to this spot, showed up. Back to the trail and Surprise Corner we went.

Axeltorv in Fredericia, Denmark

2024 marked my sixth visit to Fredericia. On my first four visits about the only thing I saw outside of the Metal Magic Festival was the train station and Den Historiske Miniby. In 2021 I saw a bit more of the place, including Østerstrand. 2024 was the first time I had an entire day free in Fredericia to explore. The above is one of the places I took in while on a bike ride. The first Axeltorv (originally called Kongens Torv) took over 200 years to complete. This market square has since been in continual use (although not on the day I took this photo obviously) for over 125 years.

Portage Lake, Alaska (August 2023)

One thing that I love about traveling, beyond seeing new things and meeting new people, is that things that weren’t on my radar before become interests for the rest of my days. For instance, I would have skipped over this article in the NY Times a few days ago were it not for my trip to Alaska last summer.
