I-5 in Northern California approaching the Oregon border

I did this drive just a few days ago, but this photo is from this month last year. I think things were even greener this year, but the sky wasn’t quite as dramatic. This photo was taken less than an hour south of Ashland.

From Songer Butte Trail, looking back to Emigrant Lake (March 2024)

A short, but steep, hike near Ashland, Songer Butte is the kind of trail you do once for the views (from the top is even better).

Mount McLoughlin usually has much more snow on it in early January, but less than a week ago it looked like this. Alas, yesterday’s snow storm likely gave it a thick winter blanket.
