Portland Japanese Flat Garden

日本庭園

@PDXJapaneseGdn

I’ve visited Portland at least a couple dozen times over the past 25 years. I thought I had been to the Portland Japanese Garden about 20 years ago. We went for a visit this past weekend, and I realized it was the Seattle Japanese Garden that I went to long ago so this was a first. There was a pretty good downpour just before (and just after) taking this photo (which is a photomerge of 22 photos) so not many people around.

To take my mind off of missing out on the 2022 edition of Copenhell, I took a road trip down to Redding, California to see Primus. 70 degrees in Ashland, 100 degrees in Redding. Ouch! Fortunately, the auditorium had AC so it was a pleasant atmosphere. This was the most enjoyable Primus show I have ever been to. The second set was Rush’s “A Farewell to Kings” in its entirety. My friend, who drove up from the Bay Area to join me, saw Rush on that tour. It was his first concert, ever, way back in 1978. A very special evening. I made it back to Ashland before the clock struck 2 a.m.

Uppsala Old Cemetery

Uppsala Gamla Kyrkogård (Sweden – July 2019)

The professor (also a children’s doctor) has had a fairly recent burial for such an old cemetery. Also, it’s always interesting to see the uniqueness of a different country’s cemetery. This one had a zen vibe to it.
