I began the day that ended in this photo in Havre, Montana. I visited my mother’s childhood home in tiny Simms, Montana along the way. Somehow, days like that when I spend time in several states give me a sense of accomplishment. I can also remember such days well, even after a long period of time has elapsed. On the other hand, days which are rather routine in which I really do get stuff done are lost in my memory rather quickly.
If you look closely at the water you’ll see millions of mosquitos. Fortunately, and unlike some of the hikes we went on in Alaska, the mosquitos kept to themselves and didn’t attack us while we were on the water. The vast numbers of mosquitos also explained why the fish were practically jumping into our canoe.
